# Fees

> Every trade pays the exchange fee plus a flat 0.05% Alpha fee. Withdrawals cost $1. Every fee is shown before you confirm.

You pay one small fee when you open a trade and one when you close it. It is a fraction of a percent of the position size. On a \$1,000 position it is roughly fifty cents to a dollar each way, depending on the market. There are no monthly charges, no inactivity fees, and nothing you are not shown before you tap confirm.

## How the trading fee is built

Every fill pays two parts, added together and shown as one number on the confirmation screen:

| Part | Rate | What it is |
| - | - | - |
| **Alpha fee** | **0.05% (5 basis points)** of position size, flat | Alpha's fee. Same on every market, every order type, opening and closing. |
| **Exchange fee** | Varies by market and order type, see below | Charged by the exchange that matches and fills your order. Passed through at cost; Alpha does not mark it up. |

Both are calculated on the full position size, not your margin. A \$100 margin at 10x is a \$1,000 position, so fees apply to \$1,000.

## Exchange fee by market type

The exchange fee depends on two things: whether you are a **taker** (a market order, or any order that fills immediately) or a **maker** (a limit order that rests on the book before filling), and which kind of market you are trading.

| Market type | Taker | Maker | All-in with Alpha fee (taker) |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Stocks, indices, and commodities** (Growth Mode markets) | About 0.0045% | About 0.0015% | **About 0.055%** |
| **Crypto** | 0.045% | 0.015% | **0.095%** |

**Growth Mode** is a reduced-fee setting the exchange applies to newer market categories, including the stock, index, and commodity markets Alpha lists. It cuts the exchange fee on those markets by at least 90%, so on a Growth Mode market almost the entire fee you pay is Alpha's flat 0.05%.

Exchange rates above are the base tier. High-volume traders (over \$5M in 14 days) receive lower exchange rates automatically. The exact fee for your order is always shown on the confirmation screen before you submit.

## Worked examples

| Trade | Alpha fee | Exchange fee | Total |
| - | - | - | - |
| Open \$1,000 on a stock, market order | \$0.50 | About \$0.05 | About \$0.55 |
| Open \$1,000 on crypto, market order | \$0.50 | \$0.45 | \$0.95 |
| Open \$10,000 on a stock, market order | \$5.00 | About \$0.45 | About \$5.45 |
| Open \$10,000 on crypto, limit order that rests | \$5.00 | \$1.50 | \$6.50 |

Closing pays the same again on the size you close.

## Leverage fee

The hourly leverage fee (called the funding rate on other platforms) is separate from trading fees. It is a payment between long and short traders, not a fee collected by Alpha or the exchange. See [Leverage fee](/faq/funding-rates).

## Deposit fees

| Method | Fee |
| - | - |
| Apple Pay and Google Pay | Provider fee, shown before you confirm |
| Debit or credit card | Varies by provider. The app shows the total you will receive from each so you can compare. |
| USDC on Arbitrum | No Alpha fee. You pay the network fee on the sending side. |

## Withdrawal fees

| Method | Fee |
| - | - |
| USDC to your wallet (Arbitrum) | \$1 flat |
| Offramp provider | Provider fee, shown before you confirm |
| Bank cash-out (direct) | Coming soon |

## Liquidation fees

There is no separate liquidation fee. If a position is liquidated, the margin assigned to it is used to close the position. See [Liquidations](/faq/liquidations).

## Are there hidden fees?

No. Every trading, deposit, and withdrawal fee is shown on the confirmation screen before you commit. The public schedule is at [tradealpha.app/fees](https://www.tradealpha.app/fees).
