# Closing an Order

> Close at market, close at a price you choose, close part of a position, or reverse it in one tap. Realized PnL lands in your balance immediately.

Open your position from **Portfolio** and tap **Close Position**. A close sheet slides up showing:

| Field | What it means |
| - | - |
| Your equity | What the position is worth right now: your margin plus or minus unrealized profit or loss and leverage fees. |
| Est. closing fee | The trading fee for closing. See [Fees](/faq/fees). |
| Cash out total | Equity minus the closing fee. This is what returns to your available balance. |
| Close out slider | How much of the position to close, from a sliver to 100%. |

## How to close

<Steps>
  <Step title="Tap Close Position">
    From the position screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the slider">
    The slider starts at 100%, a full close. Drag it left to close only part of the position. The equity, fee, and cash out total update as you move it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Tap **Close position** for a full close, or **Confirm partial close** if you left part of the position open. The order fills at market immediately.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Types of close

| Close type | What it does | When to use it |
| - | - | - |
| **Market close** | Closes at the best available price right now. This is what the close sheet does. | You want out immediately. |
| **Partial close** | Drag the slider below 100%. Closes that share of the position and leaves the rest open at the same leverage and liquidation price. | Take some profit, or reduce risk while keeping exposure. |
| **Limit close** | Set a take profit or stop loss from **Add TP / SL** on the position screen. The position closes automatically when the price reaches your level. | You have a target exit and are willing to wait for it. |
| **Reverse** | Under **Modify** on the position screen. Closes the position and immediately opens one of the same size in the opposite direction. | You have changed your mind on direction and want to flip in one step. |

## What happens when you close

1. The position is removed from **Portfolio** and from your public profile.
2. Your realized profit or loss is added to or subtracted from your balance.
3. The margin you put up is released back to your available balance.

## Closing part of a position

When you partial close, margin and leverage stay proportional. Close 50% of a \$1,000 position at 10x and you keep a \$500 position at 10x with half the original margin. Your liquidation price does not move. You can partial close as many times as you like.

## Take profit and stop loss will close for you

If you attached a take profit or stop loss, the position closes automatically when the price reaches that level. You do not need to be in the app. See [Editing an order](/get-started/editing-an-order) to add or change them.

## Can I cancel a close?

* A take profit or stop loss that has not triggered can be changed or removed from **Add TP / SL**.
* A close confirmed from the close sheet executes instantly and cannot be undone. You can open a new position if you change your mind.

## After you close

Your trade is added to your profile stats (total PnL, best trade, volume, hold period, trade count) and you can share it as a PnL card. See [Creator tools](/grow/creator-tools).
