# Host a Competition

> Give your community a reason to trade together. A hosted competition gives your group a live leaderboard, prizes, and additional revenue share for you.

A competition is a time-boxed trading contest with a live leaderboard, run for a specific community. Your members join through your link, trade normally, and are ranked on performance. At the end, winners collect prizes.

For a host, a competition does three things at once: it brings your audience onto Alpha under your referral code, it concentrates their trading into a window where they are paying attention, and it earns you revenue share on all of it.

## What you get as a host

* A dedicated leaderboard for your community, visible in the app under **Leaderboard**
* A join link you control
* Revenue share on every trade your participants make, during and after the competition
* Additional revenue share terms agreed with the Alpha team for the competition itself

## How to host one

    Send a note to [team@tradealpha.app](mailto:team@tradealpha.app) with your community's size, where it lives (Discord, Telegram, YouTube, etc.), and the dates you have in mind.

    Alpha works with you on length, ranking method (PnL, return, or volume), prize pool, and revenue share terms.

  <Step title="Launch">
    You get a join link and the competition appears on the leaderboard. Share the link with your community.

    Alpha handles winner verification and payouts by default. Hosts who prefer to run their own prize pool can do that instead. See [Competitions and payouts](/faq/competitions).

## Prizes and payouts

* **Alpha-funded prizes** are paid by Alpha directly to winners' accounts after the competition closes and winners complete identity verification.
* **Host-funded prizes** are handled by the host. Alpha still runs the leaderboard and confirms final standings.

  Winners of an Alpha-paid prize must complete identity verification before receiving it. This is the only time Alpha asks a user for ID. See [Competitions and payouts](/faq/competitions).

## Joining a competition as a trader

You do not have to host to take part. Open **Leaderboard** in the app to see active competitions, or join directly from a link shared by a trading group or creator you follow. Your normal trades count; there is nothing extra to set up.
